Ouch my Fingers Hurt or Why the dvorak keyboard.
Several times a day people just walking by my cubicle happen to look in , then stop. they ask what is up with your keyboard Gene ?
my keyboard a standard hp black and grey model has white stickers on the keys with letters written in them in black sharpie. Now the letters written there do not match the letters preprinted on the keys and this may be the source of the consternation.
the answer to the questions Why ? do you have differnt letters written on your keyboard is thus. after a visit to the site www.dvzine.org conviced me to give the Dvorak simpified keyboard layout a try. its free its included with windows and linux and mac. the switch was simple technically. the hard part is the pracitce, I downloaded a freeware typing tutor and even with the help from this the going is slow, slow as hunt and peck for a new typist at times. but I think if I stick with it for a while I may just reap the beneifts in efficiency and the reduction of repetative strain injury problems.
